Line & Copyediting

I don’t differentiate between line and copyediting. I will review your manuscript line-by-line and highlight all issues that need improvement. This ranges from larger issues like structure, pacing, plot, and character arcs, to smaller issues like sentence rhythm, flow, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

As part of your free consultation meeting, we will discuss your project and you will have the chance to state exactly what you are looking for before I begin the edit.

*Note: This type of editing should only be done if the manuscript has been through multiple drafts and is ready for critical review. If you are unsure about this, I will review a portion of your work during the call and offer guidance on which editing type is right for you.

Deliverables
  • An edited manuscript with comments and track changes.
  • A clean copy of the edited manuscript.
  • An additional letter explaining my edits so you have a complete understanding of everything I did and why.
Rates
  • $0.021 per word.
  • Proofreading included: $0.022 per word.

Turn-Around Time: Estimated 2-8 weeks (depending on project length).

*Note: Monthly payment plans are available.

Proofreading

Need that final polish on your manuscript? I can help with that! I’ll take your manuscript and mark all grammatical and punctuation errors, giving it that last bit of shine before it’s submitted for publication. I will also include some light notes and observations as I review your manuscript that will improve the quality of your book even more.

As part of your free consultation meeting, we will discuss your project and you will have the chance to state exactly what you are looking for before I begin the edit.

*Note: This type of editing should only be done if more in-depth edits have already been finished.

Rates
  • $0.015 per word.

Developmental Editing

I approach developmental editing tailored to the author’s individual needs. This is different from other developmental editors you may have encountered. While a typical developmental edit involves the editor reading through the novel and providing their clients with an editorial letter, my approach is more hands-on and personalized. I won’t just hand you a letter and send you on your way. To me, that has always seemed more like an analysis rather than a true developmental edit. Instead, through video consultation meetings, I will work with you 1-on-1 and help you build your book from the ground up. You will have hands-on guidance through every step. All together, there are three phases.

What This Approach Gets You

  • The chance to work with and learn from a professional in 1-on-1 focused sessions. This experience will not only improve the quality of your book but also the quality of your writing as a whole.
  • Personalized attention, support, and guidance throughout the entire process. Writing a book is harder than people think, but this way, you won’t be alone. Say goodbye to writer’s block!
  • A customized development plan unique to you that will provide you with the strongest foundation possible for when you begin writing or re-writing your novel.
  • The motivation and determination to keep going and actually FINISH.
  • Improved chances of getting published.

*Note: This type of editing can be done at any time. You do NOT need to have anything written to begin work with me on a developmental edit. If all you have is a dream to write or an idea you wish to develop further, that’s okay! In that event, we skip to Phase II, and you save some money!

Phase I

I read through whatever project materials you have on hand, whether that be initial notes or the first draft of your manuscript. This phase helps me educate myself on the project details so I can best guide you in Phase II. During this phase, you will receive weekly progress reports and an invoice for the time I have spent reading and reviewing so far. Don’t worry, I read fast! Once complete, a final invoice will be sent, and we will move on to Phase II.

Phase I Rates
  • $36/hour.

Payment Methods: Zelle, Paypal, or ACH.

Phase I Turn-Around Time: Estimated 1-2 weeks (depending on the amount of material).

Phase II

This is the fun part. This is where you can dream big and get creative all while having a professional’s guidance to back you up. I work with you in 1-on-1 Google Meet video consultation sessions where we discuss every aspect of your book—plot, characters, pacing, structure, etc. After we finish the overhead, we break it down into a chapter-by-chapter outline.

Phase II Deliverables
  • A highly detailed chapter-by-chapter outline.
  • A log-line perfect for pitching to literary agents or advertising the book yourself.
  • Video recordings of all our meetings.
  • The strongest foundation possible for when you begin writing.
Phase II Rates
  • $36/hour.

Payment Methods: Zelle, Paypal, or ACH.

Phase II Turn-Around Time: Dictated by the client. You may have as many or as few consultation meetings with me as you feel you need to develop the book properly. I will also provide guidance in this respect as we proceed.

Phase III

This is when I go solo and do the actual editing part while you get a well-deserved break! Similar to a traditional developmental edit, I take everything we’ve discussed in Phase II and compile it into a final editorial letter. Except this way, it will be much more personalized and tailor-made with every detail and aspect we’ve developed together. This letter can range in length from 5-20 pages as needed. Also, if you have a manuscript, I will inject the chapter-by-chapter outline into it and specifically highlight which aspects of the manuscript can be kept, which aspects need rewriting, and which aspects can be cut. This saves you heaps of time and enables you to salvage as much of your original writing as possible. This also means less work for you overall and a quicker turn-around time when you begin writing. The faster you finish your book, the faster you can get it out there!

Deliverables
  • A personalized editorial letter summarizing all developmental aspects we’ve discussed and my additional notes following the edit.
  • Monthly progress reports until the edit is complete. This way you will not be left in silence wondering and waiting to hear from me.
Additional Deliverables (if you have a manuscript)
  • A reconstructed manuscript with editorial notations, injected chapter-by-chapter outline, and track changes.
  • A clean copy of the reconstructed manuscript with the injected chapter-by-chapter outline. Easier to work on than the note-heavy version.
  • An additional letter explaining my edits so you have a complete understanding of everything I did and why.
Phase III Rates
  • Estimated $1,500 flat rate (depending on project complexity).

Phase III Turn-Around Time: Estimated 4-12 weeks

*Note: Monthly payment plans are available. Typical plan length is 3 months. Longer payment plans can be negotiated based on client needs.

Social Media Management

I help individuals and companies manage their social media accounts by creating designs that catch the eye and help you stand out in your advertising. My work primarily involves assisting nonprofit organizations and authors (both self-published and traditional) wishing to establish an online community, brand recognition, or social media presence.

*Note: A strong, active social media presence greatly increases advertising success, sales, and your relationship with customers and/or readers. If you are an author, creating a loyal community and engaged reader fanbase will greatly improve the success of future book releases and sales. This is true whether you are traditionally published, indie, or self-published. The more exposure you have, the better.

Deliverables
  • 5 social media posts per week.
  • Monthly analytic reports.
  • A yearly analytic summary (if on retainer).

*Note: Available channels are X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Business.

Rates
  • $75 for 5 posts ($300/month on retainer)

Printables

I design posters, flyers, business cards, bookmarks, and any other printables you can imagine. Have an event coming up but need to advertise for it? I’ve got you covered. Starting a new business? I can help you create a logo and business card design.

The sky’s the limit here. Feel free to reach out with your ideas. As always, your first consultation meeting is absolutely free.

Deliverables
  • A digital copy of your requested design.
Rates
  • $21 per design

*Note: Up to 3 different sizes of the same design can be made on request for an additional $5 flat rate fee.

*Note: Physical copies can be printed on request for an additional $10 fee per copy. That would equal $100 for 10 copies. This is because I have to pay for the ink and printing myself.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy Map Designs

A map is an amazing way for readers to engage with the fantastical worlds we build in our fantasy and science fiction epics. It also helps readers from getting lost as your characters traverse deep oceans, vast solar systems, or tangled jungles.

I design high-quality fantasy and science fiction maps in 8k resolution so you can zoom in to your heart’s content. Publish them on your author websites, include them in your self-published novels, or use them as advertisements in your social media posts. You can even use them in your next Dungeons and Dragons tabletop campaign! Also, it’s just plain FUN to see a world you’ve designed brought before your eyes in gorgeous detail and quality.

*Note: A map is one of the best, most effective ways to get readers excited about your world!

Deliverables
  • A digital copy of your world map in 8k resolution.
Rates
  • $56 per map

*Note: Physical copies can be printed on request for an additional $10 fee per copy. That would equal $100 for 10 copies. This is because I have to pay for the ink and printing myself.

If you have other graphic design needs in mind, feel free to reach out and we can discuss the type of project you’d like me to do. Remember, the first consultation meeting is FREE.

General Websites

Need a website for your new business? Looking to rebrand and modernize your old website? Want to start a blog that’s all about vampires? Whatever it is, I can build it for you. I have worked with nonprofits and individuals on developing a website right for them.

As part of your first free consultation call, we will discuss the details of the project, and you will have the chance to state exactly what you are looking for before I begin designing. If you are unsure about what you need, I can work with you to create a design plan. We will review hosting options, what current successful websites are doing, what design elements I think would suit you and your brand the best, and how you would like your website to function.

For an additional fee, I can also provide ongoing website monitoring or as-needed maintenance should this be required.

Deliverables
  • A brand-new website.
  • Passwords and security information.
  • All media used in the website’s creation.
Rates
  • Simple 1-3 page designs: $500.
  • Mid-tier 4-6 page designs: $750.
  • Complex designs: Estimated $1000+ (depends on the degree of complexity).
  • Ongoing monitoring: $21/month on retainer.
  • As-needed maintenance: $21 flat rate fee per request.

*Note: I consider a website “complex” if it requires a large number of different pages and uses lots of different widgets, video files, audio files, etc. During your first free consultation meeting, after discussing your project, I will clearly tell you which category you fall into before we proceed. Example: This website you’re on now would be considered “complex” due to the high number of pages and the vast number of audio files included in Azrael’s Blog.

*Note: Monthly payment plans are available.

Book Launch Websites

A website is an important asset to have for any author no matter if you are traditionally published, indie, or self-published. Like social media being a way to engage with readers and fans, your website provides a one-stop shop for anyone looking to learn more about you and your work. Remember, it’s not the book that sells. It’s the person who wrote the book. People want to get to know the wordsmith behind the words, and a website is the perfect way to introduce yourself.

I design websites specifically for authors looking to promote their books, establish an online presence, and provide their readers with a place to go when they can’t wait to see their next release. Most author websites are best off being simple and functional while still reflecting your personality. That’s why my standard rate is $500. But if you want to get fancy, we can do that, too! I’m up for anything you have in mind.
